ELEMENTARY INFORMATION

WELCOME!

We look forward to seeing you at The Oaks. Please know that you are a welcome guest, and we hope that you and your children have a wonderful first experience. Our staff and volunteers work had to create a safe and meaningful class experience. Here are a few things that will help you have a successful morning.

Guest Arrival and Check-in:

You may be wondering where to go when you arrive on Sunday mornings. Outside of our Elementary hallway (on the east wing of the building), you will find a team of people ready to help you get to the right place. Our host team volunteers will greet you, guide you through the registration process, and personally escort you to your child's classroom. They will be happy to answer any questions you have about The Oaks.

To enroll your child, please fill out the entire Guest Registration form. The forms are available at check-in. Your child will be placed in an age-appropriate small group that will engage them on their level.

Kids Praise

Kids Praise is our Sunday morning environment for elementary aged kids

(K-5th grade). At Kids Praise, we believe the Bible should never be boring,

worship can be really loud and good leaders always care. Before kids head

off to middle school, we want to make sure 3 things stick:

1. I need to make the wise choice.

2. I can trust God no matter what.

3. I should treat others the way I want to be treated.

The focus at Kids Praise is our small group environment. We want kids to see how God's word fits into their lives, to learn how to talk to Him, and to build friendships that will last. that's why it's important to make sure your child connects with the same friends, same leader, at the same hour

EVERY SUNDAY!

What does a Sunday look like?

Step 1: Get up and go to church! We will do everything we can to make it worth the trip.

Step 2: Take your kids to Kids Praise and then go to the adult worship service.

Step 3: Go home and figure out a way to have some quality family time during the week. Then, next Sunday, start all over!

Service Times:

Session One:

9:00AM   |   Kids Small Groups (While parents are in small groups or worship)

Session Two:

10:30AM   |   Kids Praise (While parents are in small groups or worship)

Morning at a glance:

Kids are challenged every Sunday at Kids Praise to trust God, make wise choices, and build lasting friendships. Here's what a typical morning at Kids Praise looks like:

Curriculum:

We use 252 Basics, a web-based curriculum for K-5th graders. Based on Luke 2:52, the curriculum is built around our Three Basic Truths.

1. Wisdom: I need to make the wise choice.

2. Faith: I can trust God no matter what.

3. Friendship: I should treat others the way I want to be treated. The Three Basic Truths are amplified through 36 monthly virtues (such as kindness, generosity and faith) and 150 Bible stories. Every week there is a key TRUTH or bottom line that we drive home. It's the ONE THING we want kids to understand and grab onto during their hour at Kids Praise.

GodTime (for Kids)

At The Oaks we want to equip you in every way possible to train your child in the ways of Christ. Your child will receive weekly devotions for kids to encourage them to spend time reading the Bible and talking to God at home. Kids will receive their weekly GodTime in their small groups. We want our kids to establish a lifelong habit of spending time with God.

Parents:

The average child will spend over 1000 hours every year in school and they will spend less than 50 hours in church. The average parent has more than 10 times the opportunities to discuss spiritual issues in one year than a church leader does in 10 years. The church has limited potential to impact the heart of your child. WHAT HAPPENS AT HOME in many ways is more important than what happens at church!

We have volunteers and staff every week creating ideas, crafting environments and coaching kids to help them grow up the right way. BUT WE CAN'T DO IT WITHOUT YOU!

We need you to help us help your kids by doing 3 things.

1. Bring your kids. Be sure to help them attend a consistent hour, with the same group of friends and the same leader every week.

2. Make church a priority. Don't miss this window of opportunity in your child's life to do something with them. Remember, Kids Praise and Small Groups work together to help you impact your child's spiritual life. For more information go to www.252basics.com.

3. Talk about it every week at home.

Remember, no one can have more influence on your child's faith than you can as a parent.

If you have any other questions or comments, please email our Children's Ministry Here.

Welcome:

Each child is greeted at their classroom by their coach and small group leader. Kids participate with their small group in an activity meant to introduce the one TRUTH, or bottom line, we want kids to walk away with and remember that morning.

Large Group Environment:

Shortly after arriving, kids are moved to their large group environment where they hear the Bible story. We use costumes, props, and characters from the story - anything that makes the Bible come to life. We also carve out time each week for kids to sing as loud as they want and tell God how much they love Him.
